Forty-Third Pro-Am Held at Quaker Ridge


SCARSDALE, N.Y. (July 29, 2024)—Over 120 supporters of the MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund participated in the 43rd Pro-Am on Monday at Quaker Ridge Golf Club.

The pro-am is a fundraising staple for the CSF. The proceeds go directly to the CSF recipients.

Twenty-nine professionals took part in the festivities, too.

Kent St. Charles was the low professional, finishing at 2-under par. St. Charles played in the morning shotgun session. St. Charles’ team shared the title in gross competition with a 6-under 64. Mitch Kahn, Justin Klein, and James Nicoll were members of St. Charles’ team. Mario Guerra (pro), Jim Stern, Jeffrey Golenbock, and Jonathan Spitalny finished at 6-under par.

In the net competition, Guerra’s foursome took top honors, finishing at 12-under par. Guerra’s home course is Quaker Ridge, where he is a professional.

After the golf, Marissa Uva—a caddie scholar from Quaker Ridge—addressed the attendees and talked about the scholarship fund’s impact on her college experience at the University of New Hampshire. Marissa is the daughter of Rich Uva, the caddie manager at Quaker Ridge.

The 2024 MGACSF schedule rolls on. Up next is the Golf Marathon on Monday, August 19 at Knollwood Country Club.

About the MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund
The MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund (MGACSF), formerly called the Westchester Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund, Inc. (WGACSF), is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational, nonprofit organization, that provides financial need-based scholarships to caddies and others who work in service to golf at local participating golf and country clubs throughout the following counties: Fairfield (CT), Bronx, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester (NY) Counties.  It was founded in 1956 by renowned amateur golfer Willie Turnesa and his good friend Udo Reinach. Today, the Fund awards an average of 250 scholars a year, representing an annual one-year tuition commitment of $1.0 million. The MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the country.
