MGACSF Caddie Scholar Earns R&A Scholarship

ELMSFORD, N.Y. (October 1, 2024) – The Royal and Ancient Golf Club Scholarship announced its inaugural class of scholarship recipients, and MGACSF Caddie Scholar Sarah Brannigan was one of 10 recipients.

The R&A received over 200 applications worldwide for the first class of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club Scholarship.

“I am beyond grateful to be a Royal and Ancient Golf Club Scholar,” said Brannigan. “This support will help finance my college education at an institute that I have always dreamed of attending and provide me with mentorship to achieve my goal of becoming a chief financial officer for a nonprofit dedicated to the game of golf. I am honored to have this opportunity.”

Brannigan is in her first year at Georgetown University, studying business and finance. She started the ‘She Can Carry’ program at Westchester Country Club, a female caddie program. Brannigan was the first female caddie at Westchester Country Club and worked on the golf operations team through her four years of high school at St. Barnabas and The Ursuline School. Academically, she was a member of the National Honor Society and the National English Honor Society while in school.

The 10 recipients hail from Ukraine, Canada, Hawaii, India, Northern Ireland, France, Nebraska, Long Island, New York, and the United Kingdom.

“The Royal and Ancient Golf Club Scholarship is an incredible opportunity for young people to reach their potential through and for the game of golf,” said Jackie Davidson, the director of golf education at the R&A. “I am confident our inaugural group of scholars will be a fantastic group of committed ambassadors for the game and club.”
