The MGACSF
The Metropolitan Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund (MGACSF), formerly called the Westchester Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund, Inc. (WGACSF), is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational, nonprofit organization, that provides financial need-based scholarships to caddies and others who work in service to golf at local participating golf and country clubs throughout the following counties: Fairfield (CT), Bronx, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester (NY) Counties. It was founded in 1956 by renowned amateur golfer Willie Turnesa and his good friend Udo Reinach. Today, the Fund awards an average of 250 scholars a year, representing an annual one-year tuition commitment of $1.0 million. The MGA Caddie Scholarship Fund is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the country.
Our Scholarships
Since 1956, the CSF has made it a mission to never turn away a caddie in need. For over 65 years, we have stuck to that mission offering college scholarships to eligible candidates of the MGACSF. A candidate must have completed a minimum of two seasons in “service to golf” at a Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) member club. “Service to golf” includes caddieing, work in the golf shop, bag room, on the practice range and golf course superintendent’s crew. Evans Scholarship
The Evans Scholarships are awarded to a select group of caddies who have a strong caddie record, excellent grades, demonstrated financial need and outstanding character. Applicants are evaluated and compete for a limited number of scholarships awarded annually. Evans Scholarship
Jay Mottola Scholarship
The Jay Mottola Scholarship (JMS) is a significant scholarship, available for four years of undergraduate study. The JMS celebrates the longtime MGA executive director as well as his contributions and support of the game on all levels. JMS
Endowed and Named Scholarships
Endowed and named scholarship funds provide additional opportunities for aid. These special scholarships are awarded according to guidelines established by the donor. Some are for specific fields of study, or for caddies from specific clubs, and some are awarded above and beyond the general MGACSF scholarship. Endowed and Named Scholarships
Nearly 3,000 students have been welcomed to the CSF family since the Fund began. Currently, 185 scholars are attending 112 colleges, universities or technical institutions around the United States. These scholars represent 55 clubs in the surrounding counties. Current MGACSF Scholars
